English painting steps
- Background: Mix #21 and #2 (1:2). Paint the background with a large brush.
- Flowers and vase: Base-coat the five upper flowers and the vase with #32 using a large brush.
- Table and lower flowers: Base-coat the tabletop and lower flowers with #10.
- Flower colors: Mix #8, #9 and #10 in varying proportions. With a small brush, deepen and enrich the flowers.
- Petal highlights: Mix #32 and #2 (1:1) to brighten selected petals.
- Stems and leaves: Paint the stems and leaves with #14 using a large brush.
- Dark flower centers: Mix #9 and #22 (1:1). Paint the dark centers with a large brush.
- Light flower centers: Mix #8, #9 and #10 (1:1:1). Paint the lighter centers.
- Vase shadows: Mix #9 and #32 (1:5). Deepen the shadows below the flowers and on the shaded sides of the vase.
- Vase and table details: Paint the vase highlights with #2. Outline the vase and table edges with #9 using a small brush.
- Frame: Mix #32 and #2 (1:3). Paint the frame with a large brush.
- Second coat: Two coats help cover brush marks and make the color fuller.
