English painting steps
- Clean brushes: Wash brushes thoroughly and dry them with paper towels before each color change.
- Paper base: Prepare the kit, rinsing water and paper towels. Glue the Dongba paper to the board, aligning the edges and pressing it flat.
- Background: Base-coat with #1 using a large brush. Add #2 and #3 as you like for color variation. Let dry fully; the tutorial also demonstrates a hair dryer.
- Stencil A leaves: Remove the leaf shapes from stencil A and align it with the board. Fill the openings with #5 + quartz sand (1:1). Let dry before continuing.
- Stencil B stems and leaves: Remove the stems and leaves from stencil B and align it with the board. Fill the openings with #5 + quartz sand (1:1). Let dry before continuing.
- Stencil C: Remove the leaf and flower shapes from stencil C and align it with the board. Mix #3 and #5 (1:1), then add quartz sand (paint:sand 1:1). Fill the openings and outline the flower edges with #6. Let dry.
- Painted irises: Mix #6 with quartz sand (1:1). Paint the iris base with a large brush.
- Attach irises: Once dry, glue the relief irises in position. You can also paint their base coat before attaching them.
- Flower colors: Once the glue dries, base-coat the relief flowers with #6. Enrich all petals with #7. Use a small brush with #2 and #3 for the centers, and #8 for darker areas.
- Stems and ground: Mix #3 and #5 (1:1), adding a little quartz sand if desired, to paint the stems. After drying, deepen leaf and stem edges with #4 and #8. Paint the lower-left soil with #9.
