English painting steps
- Set the mood: Slow down, add fragrance and play music you enjoy. Let yourself settle into painting.
- Optional fragrance: Lightly drip plant essential oil onto the blank back of the board for a soothing scent while creating.
- Background: With a large brush, base-coat the upper-left dark background with #4. Add #1 for color depth.
- Stems and dark leaves: Follow the relief texture with #1. Gradually add #2 for highlights and #4 for deeper shadows.
- Pale leaves: Mix #1 and #3 (1:5) for the pale leaf base. Gradually add #3 for the brightest areas.
- Spathe base: Base-coat the flower spathes with #5 using a large brush.
- Spathe light and shadow: With a small brush, use #5 + #3 (1:3) for the upper highlights and #5 + #6 (3:1) for the lower shadows.
- Spadix: Mix #1 and #3 (1:2) for the green parts of the flower spikes. Use #2 for yellow parts and #3 for white parts.
- Frame: Paint the frame with #6 using a large brush. Your hand-painted Anthurium is complete.
